With the increasing number of older people in many countries who identify themselves as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual or queer (LGBTQ) puts at risk the that does not meet the expectations and needs of this group according to the traditional model of housing for older people. The main objective of this study was to describe the needs, preferences and concerns related to the aging of the LGBTQ collective. In reference to the method used, inclusion and exclusion criteria to choose the target population were taken into account. The findings identified that the differences in the personal assessment of certain preferences between the LGBTQ group and that of heterosexuals are minor. Our discussion states that occupational therapists are part of health care services, especially assisting in the promotion of health and well-being, which shows an important role in addressing the issues and needs of these people and their daily occupational performance.
